Yajur Ved

Ved Vyas had appointed Vaisampayana for Yajur Veda and Yagnyavalkya was one of his foremost disciples. Once there arose a difference of opinion between Vaisampayana and Yagnyavalkya. Vaisampayana asked Yagnyavalkya to give back whatever he had learnt. Metaphorically, Yagnyavalkya vomitted whatever he had learnt and gained the knowledge from Sun God by performing tapas. 

The Ved compiled by Yagnyavalkya is called Shukla Yajurved and the one by other disciplines of Vaisampayana as Krishna Yajurved.

Most of the Samhitas [collection of Mantras], Brahman and Upanishads are aligned with either Shukla or Krishna Yajur Ved, though some are common.  There are many web-sites that describe these in great detail, some of these are listed in the second table below. Brahmans

  1.  All available Yajur Ved related Brahmans are categorized either with Shukla or Krishna Yajur Ved, hence these are not listed here.
  2. Unavailable Brahmans [12]: Jabaal, Charak, Shvetashwar, Kaathak, Maitraayani, Khandikey, Aakhey, Haaridrvik, Tumbuk, Aahvarak. Kankati, Chhagley.

Aranyaks [5]: There are no separate aranyaks for Shukla/ Krishna Yajur Ved. These are:  Maitrayneey or Barhmdaranyak, Barhmdaranyak (Maadhyandin), Barhmdaranyak (Kaanva), Taittireey, Charakshakhotta.

UpanishadsAll Yajur Ved related Upanishads are categorized either with Shukla or Krishna Yajur Ved, hence these are not listed here.
